Course Objectives:
The aim of this course is to provide knowledge to pharmacy students about the general treatment principles of poisonings; mechanisms of toxic effects, toxicity symptoms, antidots and treatment protocols of drugs used extentively in clinics, toxic gases, abused drugs, pesticides, and household chemicals.
Course Content:
In this course, general knowledge about clinical toxicology; toxic responses of target organs; general principles of treatment in poisonings; the toxicity of analgesic and antiinflammatory drugs, anticholinergic and neuroleptic drugs, abused drugs and substances, sympathomimetics, sedative aand hypnotics, cardiovascular drugs, hallusinogenic drugs and substances, toxic gases, pesticides (insecticides, rodenticides, and herbicides), alcohols will be discussed.
